Resources for Patients
Care Connection
If a patient’s primary care clinic does not provide a specific service, HAU will strategically coordinate with hundreds of specialists to ensure they receive the support they need. The Care Connection helps uninsured individuals access free, specialized consultations, surgeries, and diagnostic tests, including:
- Imaging
- Scoping
- Gynecology
- Cardiology
- Inpatient procedures
- Outpatient procedures
- Inpatient care for pre-approved procedures
Medication Assistance
The Medication Assistance Program helps patients access essential medications to manage acute and chronic conditions at no cost. To participate, patients must be uninsured, low-income, and have a primary care home established at a participating clinic. The program can assist with a range of prescriptions, including:
- Insulin
- Cardiovascular medications
- Inhalers
Interested applicants must be patients at a participating free clinic to receive medication assistance. For more information, please contact us.
Clinic Navigation System
HAU’s team of navigators helps uninsured patients find their way through Oklahoma’s often complex healthcare referral network.
In addition to connecting patients with a primary care home that meets their needs, navigators use the system to coordinate care between a patient’s primary clinic and various specialists or surgeons.
HAU serves as the central hub of this referral network, which includes:
Basic Healthcare
Mental Healthcare
Women’s Healthcare
Vision Care
Dental Care
Imaging
Inpatient Procedures
Outpatient Procedures

Diabetes Education
The Diabetes Education Program is an 8-week introductory course on diabetes covering everything from its effect on the body to long-term management and complication prevention. Led by an HAU-trained facilitator, the classes provide an informational, judgment-free space for participants to:
- Understand what diabetes is and the importance of effective treatment.
- Learn how to monitor their blood sugar at home.
- Discover and implement changes to improve their health.
- Discuss healthy, sustainable methods to help them lose 3-5% of their body fat.
Dental Health Support
Although dental care has a critical role in one’s well-being, it remains one of the most significant unmet needs for the uninsured, leading to chronic pain, infection, and long-term health complications. HAU and our partners are here to help patients receive the preventative and restorative care they need:
- The Delta Dental Oral Health Foundation publishes a guide to free and reduced-cost services in Oklahoma.
- Dentists for the Disabled and Elderly in Need of Treatment (D-Dent) matches patients with volunteer dentists.
- Many of the clinics in HAU’s network specialize in or offer dental care at no charge.
Medical Coverage Options
HAU’s services are available to individuals who are not eligible for Medicaid/Medicare and whose household income is under 300% of the federal poverty level.

Resources for Providers
Patient Care Assistance
Through the Care Connection, Clinic Navigation System, and programs for medication assistance and diabetes education, HAU helps partner clinics expand the scope of care available to patients. This assistance enables patients to obtain support and resources, even when those needs go beyond what their primary clinic can provide.
By working together, safety net clinics, partner physicians, and hospital networks are improving health outcomes for Oklahoma’s uninsured patients.
Clinic Supplies
HAU provides tools and supplies that help keep Oklahoma’s free and charitable clinics running. We supply over 80 clinics across the state with personal protective equipment (PPE), diagnostic tools, exam room essentials, and more, handling the procurement and logistics so providers can focus entirely on their patients.
Training
HAU empowers our network of professionals by providing timely, relevant training and continuing education opportunities. From annual HIPAA compliance training to proactive sessions on current policy changes and mental health initiatives, we equip clinic staff with the knowledge and tools to navigate Oklahoma’s evolving healthcare landscape.
